The Little Cado avocado also known as Minicado, Wertz, or Wurtz originated in Encinitas, California. It was introduced in 1948 as a chance seedling planted around 1934 by Roy Wertz.

What makes it special?

This is a true dwarf avocado variety that bears fruit at a young age. Its dense foliage and weeping growth habit give it ornamental value, while its compact size makes it ideal for small spaces or container gardening.

Little Cado fruit is ready to be picked from May through September. The shape of the fruit is pear-shaped (pyriform) with a thin green skin that stays green when ripe. The skin peels easily, and the flesh inside is creamy and flavorful. It typically contains a medium to large seed.
